Question for Scott (RI_S4)....
I noticed there is a buy one get one free on Pennzoil Platinum and of course the european stuff is not available at Advanced where the sale is. Since you know I change my oil every 3K miles and I am not bound in my manual to using a specific oil, do you think it is safe to use the Pennzoil Platinum 5w-30 with a HTHS of 3.0 in my car for 3K mile changes? I'm looking for any oil in a 0w-30 or 5w-30 weight for power and was using GC 0w-30 which I can no longer find. Was going to switch to Redline 5w-30 or X-Max but with this deal going on right now and my OCI what are your thoughts?
Thanks.
Thanks.

In 3K miles it should be fine
But, I would definitely take an oil sample of the oil that you removed (as a baseline) and then a sample of the PP, for comparison. You ain't gonna kill the motor in 3K miles, but it's possible that wear could increase. There's nothing magic about this HTHS of 3.5. They are trying through chemistry to keep the viscosity up for high temperatures seen in the oil supply to the turbos.
If you take a before and after sample (much like taking blood samples) you'll have a good baseline measurement to start from, and then be able to see what delta changes take place with PP, and you'll know for sure.

Picked some up. I'll let you know how it goes...
I guess i'll send it off to dyson rather than blackstone since you say dyson is more accurate?

Sounds like you're being converted, Mike. Is that 5w-30?...
the Platinum? Oh, one thing, why did buy muko cases if just trying it out? Personally, Ive always avoided that, buying that far ahead.

I've got buddies who will use it if I dont like it. Still not sure if I'm going to use it...
but I know a bunch of folks that will if I decide not to. Still thinking of using Redline 5w-30
