Default Question for snow dwellers....

I don't live in a snow area, but I go snowboarding about once a week where there is snow. And where there is snow, there is also a lot of grime on the road...salt, sand, etc. Well, I've noticed (after washing the car) that the paint along the rear of the lower fenders looks like it's been literally sandblasted. It feels rough, and does not come off with the carwashing like the mud did. My question is...can I get the paint to look normal again? Should I wax/buff the areas? And if so, what products? At the worst, am I looking at a paint retouch job?
PS. I can post pics in the morning if necessary.

There's a FAQ, linked at the top of the detailing forum, that has the answers you seek.

Default Here's what you can try......

Wash area thoroughly

Use a Clay bar and detailing spray to remove any pieces or grime that have adhered to the paint.

Use a coarse grade machine polish after that to polish the paint surface, then a fine polish, then wax.

If this doesn't do it, you'll need to repaint. In either case, once your "damaged" areas are fixed, you may want to consider some clear bra material in those problem areas.

I highly recommend Griots Garage products. High-end products at a moderate price

Griot's Garage

Default LOL...no. Griot's products are mid-end products at too-high prices. They do make some

good things, and they make some stuff that can't be bought elsewhere.

However, when it comes to car care, there are many better product lines out there that also cost less.
