Quick review of the new A5 and S5 from a friend from my Audi dealer that just came back from...

An Audi meeting in Europe. Things are looking very promising according to what he told me.

They had the chance to test drive the A5 with the 3.2 FSI, the 3.0 TDI and the S5 with the V8.

He was very impressed with the A5 with the 3.0 TDI. He said cruising on the highway at 110 to 120 kph in sixth gear, the engine was only turning at 1400 RPM! Driving in the mountains he would only have to downshift into fourth or third because the engine had such good torque.
BTW, cruising at 110-120 kph yielded an amazing 6.0 L/100 kms (37 mpg) as per the onboard computer!!!

He also had the chance to drive the S5 on a race track. Let me tell you if what he described to me is true, I think Audi finally turned a page. He said the car was simply amazing to the point where he felt uncomfortable because it drove unlike any other Audi he ever drove. He actually felt insecure driving it or pushing it to its max because the rear end had a tendency to step out! He says you can actually feel the car pushing front the rear under acceleration! I just had to laugh at him. Could it be my dream come true, an Audi that drives more like a Porsche or a BMW, God I hope it's true.

I guess we will find out soon enough. He says the S5 arrives in the fall.

Favorable review. . . competition is good for the consumers.
