Reading .MP3 Files off the Secure Digital Chip Anyone do this?
Apparently I can put an SD Chip with .mp3 files on it in my navigation unit. The manual says I can use these puny chips like 256 megs. Any one use this feature with a normal size SD Chip such as 1,2,or 4 GB?

I've used both 2 gb and 4 gb cards. Not much point using the bigger cards, however, because apparently the car can't recognize anything more than 512 files on the card. I thought I'd be able to load twice as many songs on the bigger card but it didn't work out that way.

I use two 2GB cards. As DMoore mentioned, there is a 512 file/folder limit
so a 4GB may not help that much, unless you use a higher than average quality setting. At 192k rate, I get a couple of hundred songs on a 2GB card.
Another thing to remember is that more songs on the card means it takes longer to read unless you have high speed cards.
Another thing to note which I only found recently is that there is a 99 song limit for playlists...

In my experience, 2 and 4 GB cards are ok to use, just keep the folder names and song names under 16 characters (the mp3 player won't read songs with names greater than 16 characters). I had lots of trouble in the beginning when i didn't follow these rules. Now the mp3 player works great.
