The reality of relativity
After having taken delivery of the RS4, my beloved B6 S4 has admittedly been somewhat chucked to the weeds. This is evidenced by the fact that for the first time in my ownership, I have no issue with my wife driving the car on a daily basis - go figure.
When I see the two cars parked in proximity, the S4 looks.... outdated; and, dare I say, unrefined next to the RS4 - especially with the flared fenders and oval exhaust tips. The ovals are just plain beautiful. I don't mean to appear snobby. I have loved the S4 and still have a place for her in my heart.
Tonight I have a fairly new, loner A4 2.0T, as I'm getting some service on the RS4. Next to this, the S4 looks dead sexy in the driveway. The lowered stance, the Nogaro, the lines, the wheels.... It makes me realize how relative things appear. If my wife didn't have my friggin keys, I'd take the S4 out so I could listen to the 4.2 goodness instead of the sewing machine sounds of the 2.0T.
In any event, this car is a privilege to drive. And the Milltek, non-resonated sounds amazing. I like it much more now than the full Milltek resonated on the B6. I highly recommend it.

I have an A4 and drive my dads RS4 often. You can't compare the two cars, the RS4 is an incredible
machine. The A4 is a great car, reliable great on gas and aparently a tuner car but no matter what you do an RS4 is well, an RS4. I bet you if i took you for a ride in my A4 you would change your mind about the sound Im a total V8 junky and never thought i could make a little 4 banger sound good but apparently i did.

Remember the RS4 base price is about 2.5 times the A4 base price
Same platform but completely different cars. It's like comparing a base 911 Carrera to a GT2 - there is no comparison.
I know you are not bashing, but the A4 stacks up well to the competition at its price point.

And when the B8 S4 and RS4 come out the B7 RS4 will look dated...and so on and so on. That is what..
is amazing when you get into the low-production, super-car realm. The designs are just so timeless (Porsche) and ahead of their times (McLaren F1) and flat out beaustiful (Ferrari) that even 5 and 10 year old cars are hard to tell apart. Also, Audi does have the annoying habit of constantly changing designs and platforms where you are obsolete in 1-2 years, it seems.
