Is it really a Bose speaker in my RS4?
RS4 is really good even though it is still in a break-in period, but small things are annoying me now. Last time I had found a lot of scratches on the display screen. This time I found the speaker cover of the driver's side door does not have a Bose speaker mark. The manufacturing date of my car is 01/08. It is really strange. The rest of speaker covers have the Bose speaker mark. Did someone fall asleep when he put it into the door penal? I wonder the speaker cover without Bose mark was put into the door penal or a regular speaker unit, not Bose speaker unit, is installed. If so, is it easy to take out and put a Bose speaker unit and cover back into the door panel?

There is absolutely nothing special about the Bose speakers in this car. They are very cheap...
and, comparitively, horrible speakers that can be bettered by 90% of the aftermarket speakers out there regardless of cost. I'm positive you have a Bose speaker there but you're not short changed if you don't.

It's no wonder the Bose displays are always "stand-alones" in home audio stores...
The guys at my local Magnolia/BestBuy have admitted that the Bose display layout in the stores call for separate areas for their crap so it can't be easily compared to stuff twice as good for half the price.
When I was a kid I had a 92 Maxima with Bose audio - which were basically 6 x 9s in the front doors and rear decklid. I was never impressed with the sound, but everyone noticed the speaker grilles because they said "Bose" on them. It's good to see that 16 years later people are slightly less trusting of the brand.
The speakers in the Audi have no bass and the mid range is kind of muddy. At first I thought it was my foot blocking the speaker as is the irritating design in most cars - but no - it was just the sound quality. Add to that the compressed, distorted sound that comes from the satellite radio and you're left to the soundtrack of the engine and exhaust systems, which by contrast, is absolutely brilliant.
I hear the B8 A4 has an optional 505-watt, 14 speaker B&O sound system. That's promising.
