Default Rear airbags -

I was just riding in the back seat of my 2007 RS4 for the first time and noticed a little metal label on the forward inside lower part of the window frame that says "Rear side airbags disconnected".

Any idea why they would have been disconnected? Was this at the option of the previous owner or was there some kind of recall on them? Anyone else have this?

Thanks -

Greg

I would imagine that someone had kids in car seats the backseat and it is generally recommended that the rear airbags get disconnected in that case. Your dealer should be able to reactivate or reconnect them pretty easily.

So lemme get this straight.. You were driving from the back seat? I'm not sure about the regulations in your state but they usually frown upon that kinda thing around these here parts.

Yeah - there are side airbags in the back but there were optional ones too and I believe that is what has been disconnected

Thank-you! That looks like exactly what is going on with my car. Do you have any idea what the difference between the standard and optional side airbags is? It looks to be pretty easy to get them hooked back up again.
