This is a two day (weekend) driving school and safety seminar.

The event will be run on the signature Thunderbolt Raceway, featuring over 2.25 miles of asphalt, 14 challenging turns, a one half mile straightway and approximately 40 acres of full service paddock space.

You can register <a href="http://www.motorsportreg.com/index.cfm/event/event.advert/uidEvent/D38A0FFB-F7BF-18CD-D78E2FFA439A6779">here</a>, through MotorsportsReg

One of the goals upon which the Audi Club North America was founded was the idea that driving skills can and should be improved with practice in a controlled environment. After all, how better to enjoy your car than to be confident that you really know how it will react in all situations?

<img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_2sBP1pri1_U/SP_cjJTkHbI/AAAAAAAAgb8/VKaim4MDN6U/s800/IMG_6478.JPG" border="9">

This event will be held at a racetrack due to ample space, no oncoming traffic, plenty of runoff room, and workers before each corner with flags to warn drivers of any upcoming danger. Despite being at a racetrack, the event is not competitive, is not timed, and most certainly is not racing.

<img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_2sBP1pri1_U/SP_bX_QlwzI/AAAAAAAAf8k/LTiaGxc1rsA/s800/IMG_6314.JPG" border="9">

Lessons and skills learned at these events really do transfer to everyday driving, as numerous former students attest to all the time. Many prior students report avoiding accidents thanks to things they learned at these events. Many others report simply enjoying their daily commute more knowing more about themselves and their cars. There really is no better way to improve your skills.

What you will learn at a performance driving school:

* How to handle your car in a emergency situation
* Understanding of braking dynamics
* Increased confidence in the performance characteristics of your vehicle

This event is not solely for Audi owners/drivers...

Beginners will focus on classroom time and exercises prior to on-track lapping with an instructor in the car at all times. More experienced students will focus more on track learning, however every participant will be required to attend classroom sessions.

This is not a racing school, nor is it a competitive event.

Students are required to be ACNA members to register.

Note: While the event organizers will make every effort to maximize track time, due to the possible track conditions and weather the number of sessions and session length can not be guaranteed.

That looks like a fun track. I know a lot of the people in that last picture.

For those members who have never been to the track, this is the best way to learn REAL car control..

Plus you will have the time of your life and meet great ppl.
You will learn your limits, the cars limits, but if you are a noob, your limits will be well below the car's.

Is ACNA as disfunctional as it was a yr or 2 ago?

that board drama (w/ AOA letter) was pretty ridiculous.
Actually been pretty happy w/ BMW CCA.

P.S. This is not to stir sh*t -- genuinely interested.

JELRS4 03-05-2009 08:52 AM

So an ACNA member could bring a non Audi to drive?

Bleu CHEEZE (Loren) 03-05-2009 10:24 AM

for sure the majority of "track junkies" have non-audi's

there is a very strong P-car presence in the Chicago Audi Club.

And if I had the means and space, I would seriously consider getting a p-car for strict track use.

Not that the RS4 isn't fun, but she is quite a big girl

That's why I track a VW GTI mk2

with cage, vr6, coilovers and all the goodies. Not as powerful, but a whole lot of fun anyway. Also, if anything were to happen to it, no crying involved!

ACNA events in the Southeast have been very well run.

Easily as good as, if not better than, BMWCCA, and generally less crowded. Plus my local BMW chapter won't let me run my M Roadster track car but Audi Club will - go figure.

STALKIN RS4 03-05-2009 01:46 PM

Pcars and BMWs are generally the most common at most track days.

All times are GMT -8. The time now is 11:34 AM.
