Replacing brake light bulb
Any tips on replacing a brake light bulb?
Thanks and happy driving all. Last week took a speed run to the midwest (900 miles one way) and back and enjoyed it thoroughly... just not warm enough to put the top down!

Not sure if it's the same for a convertible - open the trunk and look at the inside lining error close to where the brake light housing area. There's likely a little round cap thing showing in the liner. Lift off with a small screwdriver. On the B6 & B7 sedans, you lift up that lining cap to expose a nut and bolt assemblt that attaches to the whole rear taillight assembly; the nut portion might be surrounded by plastic but look closely. Once you undo the nut, the whole taillight assembly should pull out from the vehicle body. Unclip the harness and then disassemble the housing with the tab clips there and replace the bulb. Reverse the procedure to put everything back together.

I had to replace mine a few months back. The bulb was around $5 from the dealer. The lining had a plastic screw and the entire tail light slid out. Then it was like a regular light bulb. The hardest part was aligning the liner. Took less than 15 minutes.

I have a concern about changing the passenger side brake light. Once i remove the cap, there is a plastic piece blocking access to the bolt assembly. I believe it connects to the fuel door. How do I get past it or remove it without breaking it?

Pull gently on the plastic piece - it should open the fuel door and at the same time provide enough additional cable length that it can be pulled out of the way, to allow access to the screw bolt.
