Default Resync Key Fobs

Hey All,

I know that this topic has probably been beaten to death, but I still haven't found a method that works, please bear with me.

I just swapped out the batteries on both remotes (they both died within days of each other, go figure) ... and now neither fob remote functions work. They don't need to be "reprogrammed" as I can use them to manually lock and run the car, just "re-sync'd" (I think that's the correct terminology).

I've already tried a few to no avail (granted none of these methods were specifically for the B7 RS4):
- 1 from AudiWorld (https://www.audiworld.com/forums/sho...hp?p=14888195;
- 2 from Audi-forums (1. http://www.audi-forums.com/b6-forum/...problems.html; 2. http://audiforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3440)
- 1 from Audizine (http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=221798)
- 1 from vw vortex (http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=368404)

Can someone help and please post a tried, tested and true method that works for our model?

Thanks in advance... for those who have scathing words for me (e.g. use search etc.), ok thanks, but hopefully you can please post something useful as well.

Dave

Have you tried the method described in the RS4 owner's manual?

My car came with one remote. I was looking to buy another one on ebay so I opened it up and took and battery out to look for the serial number. (it was not inside) Low and behold it would not work afterwords. I followed the process above and it synced fine. I would say if this does not work you would need to visit the Audi dealer.

Cheers

Thanks Nick.

I should have read the manual a bit better. All I recall reading is that if I change the batteries in the remote, I should contact a dealer to get them working again. I didn't want to do that unless it was my last option.

I'll give this a go.

Cheers.

Thanks again Nick. I gave it a go and it worked, but only on 1 of my 2 remotes.

Weird. I'll pull the battery again and see if that works.

I would imagine you cannot do it back to back. Maybe the security system does not like multiple syncs so frequently.
Maybe start the car then turn it off and try again. Maybe a wait a few minutes between the 2 remotes. Most definitely take out the battery of the non working remote. To reset it.
Dealer will be able to code the remote but if you do not need it why pay the 1hr labor charge.
