Default RS4 engine swap into regular A4 question

Hi guys,

OG here from VW side had a quick question. Disclaimer: I am in Asia w/ crazy taxes and cannot buy a new RS4 here. It costs like $250k USD.

So wanting to drive a nice car here, a lot of people have to go through headaches and hardships.

I was wondering if it was a straight swap, RS4 engine and transmission into a regular A4. Can it be a B6 as well or only B7? The used 02 car is already like 30k USD and I'm not a balla like some of you guys.

Anyone know what a used, crashed rs4 is going for these days?

I realize the interior will be different, and exterior but those things I can work on.

What I really want first is a running car that has to be mechanically solid though (i realize it won't be like an original ofcourse).

Will the AWD hold up? Or do I need additional upgrades as well?

Sorry I'm such a newbie at this.

Thanks for all your help!

Default First, I don't think the RS4 engine will fit in an A4 without an RS4 front end...

IIRC you need the RS4's front fenders for the engine to fit.

It will not fit in an A4. Heres my .02. Buy a C5 A6 4.2 and drop an RS4 engine into that.

Thanks for the reply. It might be game over then.

Is it just the fenders? are is the frame inside the fenders actually altered as well? I can get good body work for cheap, but I don't want to touch the frame though.

Good idea but its just too big to zip around city traffic. Plus its just not as nice looking to my tastes imho.

Default It would be a lot easier/cheaper to drop a built 2.7T engine in there.

Plus you'd have 550+ hp/tq engine and would still get better gas mileage then the 4.2

I don't think the frame needs to be altered

Default There's no reason why it shouldn't. The RS4 engine is dimensionally the same as the S4 engine...

which is a narrowbody car.

IIRC B6/B7 owners looked into this and space was an issue.
