Default RS4 or S6

I have the opportunity to pick up either of these cars used at a great price (both Audi certified). The S6 has more miles on it than the RS4. I am really struggling over which one I want to purchase. I am a bit nervous over the fact that the RS4 doesn't have a spare tire. On the flip side, the S6 has more wear on it. I find them to both be amazing vehicles. The price for the two cars is nearly identical and isn't helping in making the decision.

What would you do? I need someone to kick me in the right direction!

I apologize in advance for cross posting between the S6 and RS4 forums but want to hear both sides.

Default Hard to help w/o knowing more about your personal situation...

single/family?
work/client requirements?
luxury/sport?
spare tire/no spare tire
details of each car (year, miles, options, price)

...you get the idea.

Personally, I drove the S6 for a while and gave it up quickly for the RS4. That's me.

Default I didn't like the S6

RS4 performance in a different category.
Didn't like the S6 styling either.

Each car is well optioned (well, the RS4 with the one or two options you can get) and in mint shape. The warranty will run out on time at the exact same point on both cars before it runs out on mileage. I will own the car for about 4.5 years. Price is the same on both of them.

No work or family reqs.

Mostly city/suburb/highway driving. No back roads around here.

I have owned everything from sports cars, to big luxury cars, to sport sedans. I am all over the place.

Spare tire is a big issue for me. I wish Audi relocated the battery to a side compartment or under the rear seat (like old Audis)... this just seemed like a dumb decision and they could fit a spare tire in there.

Why did you give up the S6?

Default I was looking for something more to bridge the gap between...

...a 997/C4S and a 4-door sports car (luxury being second). The S6 is a sporty luxury car...awesome in it's own right...but not, as it turned out, what I thought I really wanted.

The RS4 is an "interim" solution for me until the RS6 becomes available...and it is being enjoyed tremendously w/out regret. I'd be lying, however, if I didn't say that there aren't elements of the S6 I miss. That said, this is my first RS...it'd seem difficult to drive any other Audi in the model lineup w/out this designation (R8/10 excluded) moving foward...that's just me.

A possible solution to the lack of spare wheel concern is to use runflats if your looking for some piece of mind. Although I have a full-size spare, like many around here do, it sits patiently in the garage...can't say I've ever brought it on any road-trips.

If the S6 is a special car, the RS4 is a little piece of automotive history.

Default IMO RS4 Styling is more than S6 Styling. I love the widebody, rims and brakes are incredible. Also

having considered the S6 before purchasing the RS4, the S6 had a very stiff suspension. I also find the RS4 manual one of the most user friendly sticks i have ever driven. The clutch is not hard and it just glides through gears. I love my RS4 and dont regret not getting the S6. Being a previous owner of an A6 4.2 and having a family, the room in the RS4 hasnt really been that bad. My son is 6' 2" and fits in the back seat comfotably (only behind my wifes seat because i have my seat all the way back) and my daughter fits behind me. The RS4 is a different animal, if performance is one of your main concerns than RS4 it is. S6 is quick but the RS4 is fast.

Default for me it was RS4 or RS6, but reasoning is the same. I ended up getting the RS4 for styling, manual

and that incredible engine! I don't regret it at all...

If you need to carry adults around in the back seats, I'd get the S6. Performance wise, the RS4 is hotter. The S6 is a better "family" sedan. Both are very sweet.
