RS4 in the shop, A4 2.0T loaner in the garage, and my impressions of the new B8 A4....
...dealer had 2 B8 A4s on the lot, I drove the 2.0T quattro. very impressive, considering it was a stripper A4. the B8 RS4 will probably put our cars to shame (as it should).
as far as my RS4...I showed one of the techs the 'bicycle chain' noise, and he quickly discovered the fan will need to be replaced. with the motor completely shut down, he grabbed a fan blade and tugged on it...sounded like shaking a jar full of nails. hopefully the parts will be in stock.

according to Bentley, the lock carrier has to be brought into service position.
which basically means the bumper cover and bumper have to come off, and the entire lock carrier assembly (which appears to include the headlight assemblies, radiator, etc) are brought forward as a unit. doesn't look like fun....i'm curious to see the labor charge for that.
