Default RS4 vs Exige S video

While surfing the Lotus forums, I ran across this posting of a video from south africa. Some dude who has quite a collection of fast cars raced his newly delivered Exige S (new factory supercharged version, 220 hp, 2057 lbs curb weight) versus his own B7 RS4 driven by a friend. The video was shot from a perspective from inside the Exige S at night so it's very hard to distinguish the RS4 (looks like daytona?)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSIXPm16A9k

He claims the two cars were neck and neck until past 120 mph when the RS4 started to pull away convincingly (not surprised since the Lotus only tops out at 147). Not sure how well the RS4 driver shifted but it seemed like the driver of the Lotus had a little hesitation shift there. Both cars have similar power-to-weight ratios but it is clear where the normally aspirated 4.2L V8 had an advantage over a blown 1.8L I-4, up well unto the triple digits.

The very same Exige S will be on sale here in the US this fall/winter and some dealers already have received press cars in the east coast. I want one!!! Would make a fine stablemate to the RS4 no?

Default I don't think the lotus is geared for top speed as much as it is for usuable power around the track

I recall they top out at around 130 something. What does a euro spec RS4 top out at 170ish? Still, not bad for a wee little go-cart. I'd really love to have an RS4 as a daily driver and the Exige as the track ****...

The Lotus has a bad drag coefficient. That's why the top speeds are so low.

Default oh I agree 100%... that's why I want one.

and it doesn't even have to be a tight track. I'm pretty sure that on any track: Exige S > RS4
