The S5 looks good...
The RS5 is going to be one of the best looking cars ever made. With the V8, it will be fabulous with better balance and lighter weight than our favorite sedan.
With the V10, it would be absolutely vicious!

I can actually watch my Gas guage move on the M5 in M-Mode!
Not that one should worry about such things considering that the V10 is not known as a energy saver but what about the weight?
I would hope they would continue to find ways to reduce weight, in particular off the nose of the car.
If they can lose some weight and keep the 4.2 it would be better.

Re: With working link
There's an alternative link on that page that states that the RS5 is going to get the V8 powerplant in the current RS4- and then, they'll drop twin turbos on it.
BHP goes up to 450, but the blown engine is expected to generate around 500 lb/ft of torque.
Either way you look at it, V10 or blown V8, this is going to be one serious machine. Probably going to make you drop to your knees when you see the price tag, too. I can't see this car for less than 90K, perhaps higher.

48 hours of ownership so far tells me...
I should have bought this to start, however there is marked differences between the 2008 and previous models so it worked out for me.
Electronics - Hands down M5 with HUD, key less start, iPod integration and I know its blasphemy but I love iDrive.
Power- Well a V10 500 HP is nice but usable HP is a wash IMO but again I wanted DSG and this has SMG.
Comfort - Not close, the M5 is bigger and I got every option they offer and the ventilated seats are great as are the seats themselves.
Looks- The RS4 is beautiful, I love it. The M5 is a love it or hate Bangle affair. I like it allot, not love, but I view it as a total package. Besides I may make some changes to see if I can tilt that in the M5 favor. I have a modding problem. I leased this car to keep me honest but there are some BBS Diamond Black wheels that would look great on Alpine White.
Driving- Give me sometime. The RS4 is smaller and a bit lighter so there is no point trying to argue which is more competent ( I had STASIS too) but I cannot offer a relevant opinion on this yet. I think Larry V had both and would be able to weigh in. I do know from the M5 boards the 08 has many improvements over previous models.
The 6 speed M5 appears to be a failure because BMW did not allow the defeating of DSC and this has pissed off many...my dealership had 12 M5's and almost all of them were 6 speeds ( a carryover from the previous model) SMG is the way to go IMO.
The RS4 is a great in-between car. I don't think its fair to compare to the M3 or the M5 as it falls in the middle of them in pricing and features. I would hope in the future that Audi would add the RS moniker to the A4 line sooner in its production cycle so that it has a longer run and is more current versus their competition.
