A sad story...
So one evening a few weeks ago I'm heading home on a small highway (1 lane in either direction) and I'm following a Mazda 3. I notice up ahead that the headlights of an oncoming car seems to be in our lane. I think to myself "what the heck..." that was all the time I had. The oncoming car hit the mazda 3 head on doing 60, spun around and hit me head on sending me flying into a ditch on the opposite side of the highway. I barely had time to hit the brakes! I must have still been doing 50 at the time of impact.
The lady that hit us suffered 2 broken legs, broken hip, broken arm, and severe head injuries. The lady in the mazda had surgery but went home the next day. Surprisingly I was not hurt too bad. Burns from the airbag, bruised hip and some mild whiplash. After a trip to the hospital, I went home the same night. No one could believe how well the RS4 held up. I'm lucky to still be here.
The sad news, my baby is totaled. $35,000 in damages and they haven't even got to the engine yet, which was leaking oil on the road. The poor thing, she only had 10,000 miles on her and she's done.

im glad you are ok. Are you in NY? i heard of someone driving on the wrong side of the road like a
I would recomend buying the car back if you can. You can get big money for the Interior, transmission engine (even if its damaged)etc...

Skip on the buy back
limited market for parts, you would have to have somewhere to keep it in storage for a while (probably a long while), strip parts your self, deal with people who don't want to pay, ect...can be a PIA.
Buying it for salvage value might still be kind of high also and they will subtract that from the check they give you. Also probably not possible if you have a lien on the vehicle to do a buy for salvage.

Agreed...
...this approach is bound to create more hassles for you in the long run...it's not worth it.
Take the money & move on.
That said, what do you picture replacing your RS4?...and speaking of "pictures", I know there'd be interest in seeing some post-impact pics.
