Say what?? C&D says new RS4 slated for 2010 ?
Here is an excerpt from their "S4 first drive"
Shiny mirror caps, new side sills, a tweaked grille, specific 18-inch wheels, and four oval exhaust tips--that's basically it for differentiation. The S4`s exterior is almost identical to that of the A4 with the S line package. If you want to stand out from the crowd, this isn't your ticket. That will be the upcoming RS4, slated for introduction in the 2010 calendar year, which will have altered sheetmetal.

Audi has been stating for the last 2 years at least that they will increase total models, increase S and RS models, and that there will no longer be the typical 4 year lag times for RS models to follow new platform intros.
Why is everybody so surprised by this?

The surprise was that there wasn't going to be a B8 RS4...
There were other sources that had confirmed that no B8 RS4 was happening.
I would certainly be suprised if there is indeed a new B8 RS4 given there is no where for them to assemble such a beast when other new models are taking up the neckarsulm and ingolstadt factories.

What other sources? I've heard there would be one from most car mags, which have a little more at stake reputation-wise than car bloggers.
Re capacity, the plan was to increase Quattro GmbH capacity to work several RS models simultaneously.

Don't believe everything you read......
I used to think all the info that was printed/posted came from some mysterious "reliable source". No surprise that it doesn't. Did you know there were once rumors of a B6 RS4. Even a photo of a "test mule" at one point. I'll believe it when I see it. Until then, it is all rumor.
