Scratch on Passenger Door

My new RS4 has a scratch on it below the molding on the front passenger door. The scratch was present when the car arrived on the carrier, but since it was dusk, I couldn't see it. However it was pretty easy to see the next morning when I opened the garage door. I have had a couple shops look at it in Austin. One said he loved the car, but would recommend not getting it fixed since so much paint and clear coat would have to be applied to a few panels to blend it in. The second shop said basically the same thing about the paint. I am troubled by the prospect of putting another couple layers of paint and clear on perfectly good panels to fix the scratch on the door. On the other hand, its a brand new car with a scratch, which is an option I didn't pay for! Any opinions or experiences with a similar situation would be appreciated. (I attached a pic and the flash really highlights it...normal lighting isn't as noticeable. The scratch you see has been worked on by a local shop with an orbital and some excess polish can be seen on the molding and the lower trim)

I would repair with a norton chip repair kit and OEM touch up paint and clear
So many times it will end up worse if the wrong
person gets their hands on it. If you do it yourself you control the situation
As for your karma and mindset just pretend you
scratched it yourself and move forward with it
that way IMO
Repainting will sort of screw the car up worse
in my opinion and paintwork is easy to tell versus factory with a scratch

http://www.automotivepartsnetwork.com/store/pc/autopart.asp?idcategory=260&idproduct=231521</a

Bring it back to the dealer. Sounds like you noticed it the next day. They should fix it for free.

By the way, you attached the thumbnail and not the full sized pic.

I guess you have 3 business days to return the car after purchase.
Usually it's return policy for new cars.
So go there and tell them to make it really new or you will return it.
I don't think those guys will fight with you. They have some sort of insurance, which will pay them for their own body shop work. So they will even make some penny on that.
Everything you negotiate has to be written down though.

I would get some Adam's Polishes Machine Polish and a random orbital buffer
You should see what I was able to do with scratches on my car with his stuff. You will not hurt it, and you may minimize it to the point where it's barely visible. What you want to do is get the edges of the scratch less sharp...subtle process. www.adamspolishes.com and they will talk to you about the process, or email me at donna@vail.net, would love to help. That is totally frustrating! I feel your pain!

Re: I would get some Adam's Polishes Machine Polish and a random orbital buffer
The scratch has been worked on by a body shop, although I don't know what they used for a polish. It definately looks better than it did. The part you can see in the pic you can pick up with your fingernail. The body shop was worried about going any further with it and burning the paint. With the additional detail above, do you think it can still be polished further?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I would contact them and send them the pic and see what they say
I was able to get some scratches out that were not as long as yours with their products. And did you see how they fixed my nav screen, which was trashed? (Different thread.)
