Default Seeking help from the techies...(I'm NOT one)

I understand that the ECU adapts software to your driving style. I'm about to have a new cpu placed. Obviously, it's winter and my driving style will not be too aggressive with this weather (snow). Will this adversely affect how the module adapts the to my driving? Any recommendations. I assume the car will re-learn how I drive...although I understand that the car has two ecm's so this may be a non issue....looking for any insight Thanks in advance.

If your worried about what the ECU learns over the winter you can reset it in the spring using a VAG

Default those are instructions for TB adaptation, not an ECU reset.

to reset the ECU(s), you have to go into Engine 1 and Engine 2 and hit 'clear codes' in each, IIRC.

What happens if you don't reset ECU ever?

Default Not much

The ECU is always dynamically adjusting air fuel mixture in real time and timing over a longer period of time. It doesn't "learn" your driving style. It adjusts in real time to the ambient conditions by controlling A/F ratio and timing, by looking at the broadband O2 sensors and listening to the knock sensors.

Default ECU continually adapts

Throttle position is only one of many parameters that input into the ECU. If you've been driving around like a ***** for a while, the ECU may not give you full output the first time you decide to nail it, but after that, it will readjust the actuator outputs accordingly. More than likely, the ECU processes so fast that in the time it takes you to depress the accelerator from 50% to 100%, the ECU has already adapted to the new throttle position. So you can say it "learns", but it also "unlearns" ad "relearns" just as quickly.

ECU inputs/outputs and adjustments happen on a millisecond time scale. Don't worry about it. You can reset your ECU with a VAG or by disconnecting your battery.
