Default so not the smartest move but.....

going to run 19" with Dunlop M3 winter sport this season. Can't find any other rubber to fit the 19s. They just don't make a lot of winter tires each season so its my only choice this late in the game. We'll see if it works out, I've never run 19s in the snow should be fun!

I'm going to do the same thing... for how many snow days we get in Denver I reckon it will be fine.

Default So you're not going to take it to the mountains? Just once, just to see how it feels

I know I will. Probably once or so I tell myself. Heated front and rear seats, Sirius radio, SD cards at the ready how can you not! Oh yea be careful out there James P I just took a screw into the sidewall of my rear tire. Bam, new tire and not 2 weeks old yet. Bloody savages. I probably picked it up on my trip to Estes park last weekend. Great drive, great curves but not worth a new Contisport 3. Really painful to look at the fresh rubber with this big ol' screw in the side of it

Default Actually, it's a very smart move....

Even in real winter regions, most of the time the roads are well cleared soon after a storm. Most of the time you are driving on some packed snow or a bit of ice. Occasionally you will find yourself actually driving in a few inches of snow. For all these conditions and the cold temps, your 19's will be fine. It's the tread that matters.

Now....for the 90% of the time that the roads are dry and clear or only slightly damp from melting snow, you will be able to enjoy the near full performance of your 255/35/19's winter tires.

If you are really stuck in 2+feet of snow, you're not going anywhere anyway so why worry about an inch of tire?

Default I will probably take it up to the mountains over the winter, but if I'm going skiing

I will take my wife's MDX, especially if the whole family is going. So much easier to put the skis on the roof than in the ski sack/pouch.

Sucks to hear about the tire. We moved into a new house about 3 years ago and I got screws in both rear tires from the construction. As the tires were partially worn, I had to get a whole new set due to AWD.

We should plan a Denver meeting sometime soon... when I get my car!

By the way, did the TPMS system alert you to low tire pressure ?

Default Yes it worked great! At first I thought it was the rapid change in altitude and Temp

But only one tire was low and the sytem came right back on after a few days driving. Annoying but it works well.

Once you get your car, if you ever stop driving, we'll do a GTG!

Default I hope it's not too dumb because I'm doing the same thing

I have a Grand Cherokee in case the snow gets too bad here in Michigan.
