that's surprising, and disappointing, this is a 2 door coupe at that huge weight. i know with the more equip, the heavier it gets, but still...very little use of aluminum or lightweight alloys it would appear??

I don't know wtf they're doing with these cars...dipping them in molten lead maybe.
the RS4 is the biggest mystery of all. they take a B7 S4, put aluminum hood and fenders on it, and the weight goes UP 88 lbs? sure, there's additional standard equipment, but 88+ lbs worth?

definitely not a direction towards lighter cars
and Audi's not alone in this.
aluminum is expensive and titanium is through the roof. but still, think of the better fleet gas mileage they could get by shaving this weight off. and, are they truly performance minded or not.
finally, for the excessive costs of Audis these days, they should use aluminum more liberally to keep weight down, at least in their S and RS cars.

it seems
with more and more power, low weight has been forgotton altogether.
think of what type of performance they could get with the increased power and a light car...not just acceleration, but handling, braking, feel, the whole package.

depends whose testing you're referring to.
I don't think we've seen R&T, MT, or C&D do a full test of both cars. I think there will be at least 0.5 sec difference between the two under comparable conditions...that's significant.

you got that right...
IMO, sports sedans or coupes just don't feel right > 3500 lbs. doesn't matter if there's a V8 in there. it would be nice to see 2 door coupes coming in at around 3200 lbs...again.
come to think of it, the clap-trap Mustang GT comes in at < 3500, MT.
what the heck is going on with Audi and a 2 door S5 model at right around 4000?
