Default Speedometer inaccuarcy...

Just checked it with my aviation GPS and the RS4 reading 3.5 mph faster than GPS indicated speed.

I'm running the 19" factory wheels and tires. This is a relatively large error at 70 MPH indicated.

Any fix for this, or do we just live with it, and compensate accordingly?

Default 4.8% is what's allowed by the Feds

If I recall correctly, I think it's NHTSA or DOT regs that require the speedo to be accurate to within 4.8%.

Anyone know for sure?

The easy fix is to get larger diameter tires.

That only means that a true140+ in this car is more scary than I thought.

Default Yea I noticed that too. I asked about that on my 5k tune up and they said it checked out just

fine (no error codes) and said it was with in limit . Personally its kind of annoying and I feel like its been more inaccurate vs other cars I have owned/driven.

Default It's just another reason a Stage 3 B5 S4 is better. <DUCKS!> =P

They still had accurate speedometers in the USA back then (confirmed by mutliple GPS comparisons). Later on the intentionally inaccurate ones filtered into Audis in the USA (like the ones in Europe already were).

Default the fix is to ignore the speedometer....the steering wheel blocks the top half of mine anyway.

does the speedometer really have any effect on how you drive? personally, i think it's just a distraction.
