STaSIS Motorsport has strongest team qualifying at Mid Ohio in 5 years of competing.
For Immediate Release
Lexington, Ohio (May 20, 2006) STaSIS Motorsports had a strong showing in qualifying at Mid Ohio. The three STaSIS Audi A4s all qualified in the top ten. Leading the way was #17 Chip Herr qualifying in second position 0.166 seconds off the pole. Also with strong showings rookie #99 Jeff Courtney and #18 Freddy Baker qualified 8th and 9th, respectively.
Commenting on his 1:33.397 qualifying run Chip Herr said, "We had a good day; the STaSIS team put together a heck of a car. The new B7 chassis STaSIS Audi A4 really performed well. Hopefully, we can perform tomorrow as well. I sure am looking forward to starting in the front row." Last race at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg Herr made up four positions by turn one starting in 7th position with his patented standing start all-wheel drive launch.
Points leading rookie Jeff Courtney managed a top ten qualifying position for the first time this year. Courtney navigated the course in his STaSIS Kenda/MPI Coin/KaravanTrailer Audi A4 in 1:34.063 good for 8th position on the grid.
STaSIS veteran "Fast" Freddy Baker running in his own back yard in Ohio just south of his hometown of Cleveland qualified in the top ten. In qualifying interrupted by a full course red Baker moved up from 14th to 9th after pitting with the rest of the field for the red flag. His best lap of 1:34.153 in his STaSIS Fred Baker Audi A4 was just 0.09 seconds behind teammate Jeff Courtney.
With three cars in the top ten the STaSIS team is looking forward to tomorrow's race at 3:15PM EDT. The 2006 Mid Ohio SPEED World Challenge Touring Car race can be seen on SPEED TV Saturday, May 27th at 8:00PM EDT.
Pole setter Pierre Kleinubing said, "I just know I'm going to be in second by the time we get to Turn Two because the Audi is going to launch so well,"
