Still need someone to guide or clarify my ignorance.
Come back from Iforged Manfacturer today and I was told by the sales that it is not possible to have a wheel that will fit both a B6 S4 (my car) and B7 RS4 (might be my future car). He was rushing out to lunch so I did not ask him about the details. To my understanding, the offset setting on my car will not clear the brake caliper on the RS4 but what if I order the spec on the Rs4 than that way it will fit on Rs4 and it should be clear the brake caliper on my car.
Thanks in advance.

educated guess: the RS4s wheel wells/flares can accomodate a larger wheel/tire/offset...
...than the S4. you would have to roll the fenders of your S4. the RS4 OEM tire width spec is 20mm more than the S4.
but maybe there is some magic combo that will work on both.

Actually that is one of my guess also,
I also have a m roadster originally comes with 245 and now it is 265 without any rubbing. So I was gonna ask the sales guy a set that fits 245 and 255 also and I will stick with 245 for my S4 but again he has no time.
And I also understand that different tire manufacturer has not exact same width although that is close to that number. Agreed with you there should be at least a magic combo that will work on both. Do not want to spend thousands of dollars now and is not gonna to work on my future dream RS4.
P.S. Works hard to get my new S4 and also like the high rev engine and fun factor of M3 at the time of purchase so use almost whole year to find a high milage but cheap 01 M Roadster (Been very happy with it since it won't depreciate much more) and so sad to see the resale of the S4 so decide to get a 20-25% depreciated low milage, good condition RS4 in the near future.
Being said above, hope all of your RS4 owners have a slow depreciated value car since I do believe RS4 is a true limited and a true only RS4 fans' car.

if you order a custom offset and wheel width to ideally fit the RS4...
and you then mount those same wheels on your S4, while you're probably not going to have any brake caliper clearance issues, you will end up with a potentially ghetto looking wheel that will stick out past the S4's less aggressively-flared fenders, not to mention will likely have issues with fender and/or suspension rub during sharp turns of the wheel or during hard cornering that may well be beyond what a simple fender rolling can remedy.

yeah, just comparing factory offsets, the RS wheel would poke out an additional 1.14 inches (29mm)
on a B6. And need an additional 3 mm clearance on the inside.
I doubt there would be enough room to make it fit under the fender with the suspension in the way.
And if they were made at 9" wide to fit the S (provided you could get 9 to fit in the front) they wouldn't come out to the fender when moved to the RS like factory.

Here's something that might help.
