Default Taking delivery next week and some questions popped into my head......

Are you supposed to pay sales tax on the gas guzzler tax? It'll be $105. For me that equates to a decent sushi dinner with the wife or a couple of good bottles of wine or maybe even custom floor mats for the new baby.

Anyone know the answer to this?

Also, was anyone offered the "Tires for life plan". Here's the despcription that I was e-mailed about the plan:

"Tires for life/ Road hazard protection. This plan, unlike extended warranties, that pay for things that could happen to the car, pays for what we know you are going to do to the car. Every 5000 miles you bring the car in and we rotate and balance the tires. Every 15000 miles we replace the tires, and align the car. If you hit any road hazards and blow the tire, or the tire and alloy wheel, they are replaced at no cost. All flat tires are repaired free of charge. After the factory 50000 mile warranty expires, if the car needs a bulb (except xenon headlights), wiper blades, or a battery, it is paid for. After the first set of tires, this plan has paid for itself. The plan is for life (as long as you own the car) and has no mileage limit."

Cost for the plan is $2000. Doesn't seem like a bad deal. To order, ship, mount and balance a single set of Michelin PS2's from the tirrack would be $1558.

What do you all think? Is this something Audi is offering or am I to assume it is through my dealer?

I believe you do pay tax on the Gas Guzzler Tax (ironic, isn't it?).

That tire plan seems like a sweet deal, especially at the prices you've figured. Honestly if that's the case, just before you hit every 15,000 miles its an excuse to go to the track.

Mind if I ask what state / dealership you're taking delivery from?

I just took delivery last Saturday and I wasn't given the Tires for life/Road Hazard protection option, but at that price I would have taken it.

Default I passed on the plan.

I didn't see the Tires for life part of the program, but the road hazard plan is useless since they only replace the rim if it is destroyed (not just bent or seriously curbed up).

Anyway, I just would pay careful attention to what types of tires they will replace yours with, and all that fine print.
