Test drove an RS4 tonight....

nice wheels, but does it justify the extra 20 grand?
I personally don't think so.
If I were to upgrade, I would rather go with an M5, C4S, or a GT3...
For me that would be an upgrade, otherwise I will stick with my S4.

Sorry, just my opinion, even if it might count much in your view....

Bob W. 06-15-2006 06:39 PM

good for you.

Timmay 06-15-2006 06:49 PM

Clearly it doesn't count in Bob's view..hehe

I think you have to drive a broken in car to appreciate it...

The RS4 is a great car. Is it worth $20K more than an S4? Well, if it means you can't feed your kids, then no. If you have the money to spend on a car, then yes. I have driven lots of Audi's and the RS4 is the best.

As far as your choices go: M5 - can't be driven year round where I live and it is ugly, C4S - not even a small child can fit in the back seat and no performance improvement over the RS4, GT3 - a little too raw for a daily driver. So, that reveals my criteria: AWD, daily driver, drivable in snow/ice, four doors, subtle, good power.

I realize not everyone will agree with my opinion.

RXBG 06-15-2006 07:21 PM

none of the cars you mentioned count either

the M5 doesn't justify 40K more. and the porsches are 2 door cars.

i m h o

then again. everything around here is opinion. and looked at logically there is no real reason to spend over 25K on any car either.

Timmay 06-15-2006 07:38 PM

That's exactly what I was saying in another thread.

Silver Fun 06-15-2006 08:17 PM

It's not about the wheels

DrGP 06-15-2006 08:32 PM

You're entitled to your own opinion and I respect that! Others may have different opinions

Thats why they make different kinds of cars. If we all liked the same thing, there would only be a limited variety of cars out there.

Who has a broken in RS4? Nobody?

Not sure how you'd drive a broken in RS4. You certainly never get to test drive a broken in anything.

And the RS4s are so new, who actually has broken theirs in now?

I don't disagree with the rest of your post though.

123Thumperer® 06-15-2006 09:00 PM

so what you're saying is...

...you can't justify spending 20K more on a car that seriously outperforms the S4 for $20K more, but you're willing to spend $30-50K more for other cars that do so, arguably better performers than the RS4 in many ways, depending on your goals/tolerances...

M5: bad design. sorry. it is. inside and out. i respect its abilities, just can't warm up. really tried. (no offense larry, let me borrow yours for a week and maybe i'll change my mind ;-)

C4S: great car. totally different. not really comparable. and way more expensive than RS4. good daily driver tho.

GT3: great car. totally different. not really comparable. and way more expensive than RS4. not a good daily driver.
