Thinking about buying an rs4

I'm curious on upgrades, i'm guessing you can probably chip it. but other then that i have no clue, i currently have a b5 s4 and alot of the upgrades are RS4, well are there any rs4 upgrades.

not many, chip (yet to be proven if it works), exhaust, minimal weight savings, and thats about it

Not a car if you want to heavily mod....

When I bought my RS4, I was determined only to mod something if I felt it was truly deficient. So far I have done the following:

1. Added a high end sub and amp to the factory sound system which was VERY deficient in low end. Amazing results here.

2. Upgraded the floor mats which were cheap for a car of this caliber.

3. Painted the front orange reflectors and front filler plate to match the body color of the car (if you consider this a mod)

That's it.

Basically it comes "modded" from the factory. You can tweak suspension and exhaust. Lighter front brakes are available from Alcon and Audi (ceramic @$15,000). Lighter wheels can be had for about $1600-$2000 per wheel, but the stock wheels at 26lbs are pretty light for a 19x9 sized unit. Mods are few and most except exhaust are very pricey. That said, there is absolutely nothing that really *needs* to be modded here. It is a phenomenal package straight out of the box. Very different from a B5 S4 which was a car with a huge unrealized potential from the factory and really needed mods to make it great

to get an equivalent % power increase in the RS4, you'd be spending about 4x as much $$$.

the only thing that can do that is the MTM blower, and IF you can get them to sell you one (there's a waiting list) it's going to cost you about $45,000. $10k NON-refundable to get on the waiting list.

Does this mean they have actually gotten their act together enough to offer it here in the US?

doesn't sound like it

they've taken deposits, if that means anything.

10k non-refundable deposit...I bet, someone here in the US can develop a nice FI kit for 12k

lack of power mods is the only thing that has held me back from getting an RS4.

Otherwise I love almost everything else about the car. I just could not bring myself to getting a car that does not feel the same as my S4 torque wise, specially up here at altitude. To be sure it's an unfair comparison, but that's my situation.

Maybe contact HPA? They have a proven track record and close ties with VAG.

while not cheap, they can upgrade the entire car as a whole package, not just the engine

Also there is Torque-Factory. Jeff Moss works with GIAC who has been tuning Audi's and Porsches for

a couple of decades. Its just a matter of volunteering a car and cash for this project.
