Default Thinking about getting an RS4

I'm looking at getting a fun weekend driver about this time next year. The RS4 is one of the cars on my list. I'm also looking at the Cayman S, AMG C63/SLK 55, Corvette and CTS V.

Went to see an Audi dealer today and the salesman seemed like he didn't know what he was talking about. However they did have a few RS4s on display (4 of them). I love the Audi exclusive interior. It is also available with a black exterior correct (besides the red I saw). Titanium wheels looked nice also.

I owned a 98 A4 before (I was a member of this site but forgot my old login info). I always loved the look of the Audis, especially the quality materials of the interior. I'm sure the 4.2 is a beast. Quattro has always been a great system.

Some disadvantages IMO about the RS4? The manual only option. I have joint problems so I prefer an automatic but I could probably live with it for the weekends. I wouldn't buy the Cayman with an auto and it has it as an option.

If I buy the RS4 I'm going to Ingolstadt to pick it up. I lived in Germany for 8 years so I have a few freinds over there. I've been to the factory already.

You may ask why I got rid of my A4. It had the tiptronic (with the V6) and was pretty slow especially since I live in Utah where the valleys are at 4300 feet. I also had a few problems. It broke on me in Boise on a weekend I was seeing my ill father. Not the best time to fail on me.

Well I'll be looking at this site often, I'll probably take a test drive within the next couple of months and pull the trigger next winter for pickup for the following summer. Does anyone know if the 09 will be any different from the 08?

Thanks in advance.

Unless you're looking for a drop top your choices are at the dealers.

What are they going to replace it with? That wouldn't be good for Audi if they dropped out when the new M3 and C63 came to market.

Default Production has ended for the sedan.....

The Avant will continue for a few more months in Europe. Convertible should be available through the summer. Probable replacement is a 2010 RS5 in fall '09.

Default If its mainly a weekend driver you may want to look at the post above, you may be better off with a

porsche. Also, be sure to drive the Rs4 it is a beast, but since you live in altitude its not going to make the 420hp.

Default Sounds like you were looking at Garff Audi

Only 3 of the cars in the showroom are RS4s, the 4th (black) car is an S4 with the quattro GmbH body kit on it.

The RS4 convertible they have was left out in a snow storm with the top down - the day it was supposed to go on display at the Utah Auto Expo. I understand it took some work to get the spots out of the leather...

Good luck!

John
