Default Thinking about making a switch from an E46 M3 to the B7 RS4...any known problems or issues

I should look out for? I know the car is still relatively new, but are there any problems to look out for? Anybody put together a buying guide or FAQ?

I'd really appreciate it...

A major purchase like that is worth the hour time to go back thru this forum

Default I'm not going to just go buy one...and I haven't even driven it yet...

I'm really just in the planning stages to determine if I really want to spend the money

I'd say the suspension is the achilles heel - but Audi is on top of it and fixing the issue.

Default Suspension and carbon on valves. Both of which they are working on. Tends to use up

brake pads rather quickly. Everything else is pretty minor IMHO, and can be worked around.

Default I have had only 2 issues:

DRC started clunking at 6k miles, and leaks detected at 4k miles. Audi fixed the other day for free of course, and seems fine now. However they did use the new Rev B version parts, which are supposed to have redesigned seals.

The other issue I am actually having now is that in the morning on cold start, my engine likes to act very slightly doggish until warmed for 30-60 seconds. I am attributing this to probable carbon buildup in the valves from being an FSI engine. I will take it in for a carbon cleaning soon, but its not a real big issue.

One other issue that has been reported often is stuck intake manifold valves. I haven't had this issue, but several here have. Audi is taking care of it though, haven't heard of any people getting hassled for that.

I can't think of any other items, except the car is heavier than we all would like by a few hundred pounds, but add in a nice suspension kit, some spacers, and sways, do some of the common mods, the car is really really nice. Would not even think about a BMW over this car in this class. The M3 may be slightly faster at top end, the 335 CIS may be quicker, but all can be easily made up on the Audi with AWD and taking some time to drop some weight, if thats what you are into.
