Default Tonight I wished I owned a BMW....

.... with self drying brakes.

Was driving in really heavy rain, fair distance to the car in front, car in front braked hard, I hit the brakes... absolutely nothing happened. For what seemed like forever (probably only one second) his rear end got a lot closer, a helluva lot faster. Finally the pads cleaned the water off the rotors and I nearly hit the windscreen as a near emergency stop ensued.

Glad I leave fair amount of room - heart rate clearly linearly correlated to brake pressure applied!

Default no reason to want another car. The usual BMW driver would have been on the other cars

*** and probably talking on the phone about how cool they are. brakes wont help.

sorry to rain on your parade, but your RS4 ABS system does have a brake disc drying function.

Default yep....

...cut-n-pasted this from audiusa.com:

Electronic Stabilization Program
The ESP 8.0 electronic stabilization program has specific RS 4 settings and its own parameters for even sportier road dynamics. The program uses a combination of the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), the Electronic Differential Lock (EDL), <b>an innovative brake disc drying function</b> and the traction control (ASR) system, to help make the RS 4 easier to control in handling situation close to the limit.

Default If I recall correctly, the function is tied to the wiper activation - whether manual or

via rain sensor.
