Torque question
I have sold my 911 and M3 and been driving a 545 as my daily driver until the RS4 finally arrives. I was hoping to use the RS4 as my all around vehicle. Fun to drive when I am alone, yet able to haul around my small children, drive my wife mellow, and none would be the wiser :-)
I am in the U.S. and haven't had the opportunity to drive the RS4. After talking to the concierge at SOT it sounds like I probably won't be able to when it comes to Dallas. I was really surprised when looking at the specs that my 545 actually has more torque (330) compared to the RS4. Can anyone that has actually driven the RS4 describe the feeling of acceleration that they felt inthe RS4 versus the S4 (or even 545)? Thanks

i mean, really.
torque + quattro? sigh...
if you STFA you'll find that RS4 "pulls" strongest at high RPM. with that said, i can't comment on a comparison of S4 vs. RS4 vs. 545, but I can tell you that in daily driving, the S4 and 545 would be more satisfying, considering that you'll how more low end power (read: more availble most practical driving situations) and overall, a slightly better "daily driver"
what i'd really like to know is: from a roll, which is quicker, B7 S4 or B7 RS4? also, i'd like to see some top gear 50-70 mph pulls too (those must be published somewhere... go find those numbers!)
oh, and back to the quattro comment... power + quattro + high RPM clutchdump = amazing holeshot acceleration due to superior traction. stoplight racing aside, with equal amounts of power, a RWD (or any non-AWD) car will have a superior "pull" basied simply on the fact that there is less drivetrain power loss.
