TPMS with new winter wheels-question
I want to avoid buying new sensors for my 18" winter wheels, I have searched the archives but have not found a clear answer on how to override tire pressure monitoring system. Do I have to bring it to the dealer? If I can't get it done easily, how annoying is the "alarm"?

alarm? what alarm?
my new wheels have no TPMS sensors....and when I installed them, there was no alarm, no warning lights, no nothing.
IF you get an alarm, it can easily be disabled with a VAG-COM....which coincidentally is about the same cost as the TPMS sensors, except it will actually be functional.

they're full of ****, find a new tire place.
as I said above, for that $300 you can buy a VAG-COM and disable TPMS....plus you'll be able to do a lot of other things with it.

Re: alarm? what alarm?
One of the posts I stumbled across was from someone who put sensor-less wheels on his RS4 and was getting a warning every time he started the car. I guess I will see what happens.

There is an alarm, but...
It seems that Bob's TPMS wasn't active or something else was wrong.
If your TPMS is working you will get an alarm and light in the dash if there are no sensors.
