Default TPMS with new winter wheels-question

I want to avoid buying new sensors for my 18" winter wheels, I have searched the archives but have not found a clear answer on how to override tire pressure monitoring system. Do I have to bring it to the dealer? If I can't get it done easily, how annoying is the "alarm"?

You need a VAG-Com to turn it off from what I remember reading

Default alarm? what alarm?

my new wheels have no TPMS sensors....and when I installed them, there was no alarm, no warning lights, no nothing.

IF you get an alarm, it can easily be disabled with a VAG-COM....which coincidentally is about the same cost as the TPMS sensors, except it will actually be functional.

Default they're full of ****, find a new tire place.

as I said above, for that $300 you can buy a VAG-COM and disable TPMS....plus you'll be able to do a lot of other things with it.

For $332, you can get a set of new TPMS sensors and stems at Achtuning

One of the posts I stumbled across was from someone who put sensor-less wheels on his RS4 and was getting a warning every time he started the car. I guess I will see what happens.

Default There is an alarm, but...

It seems that Bob's TPMS wasn't active or something else was wrong.

If your TPMS is working you will get an alarm and light in the dash if there are no sensors.
