Traded my RS-4
hi everyone,
after 3 Audi's in a row i traded my RS-4 yesterday on an BMW 08 M5. i had previously owned an 03 M5. the M5 is great. a little less edgy with more luxury. heavy on technology. i will miss my RS-4. it was a beautiful and great vehicle. in a perfect world i would have both at the same time! i'll post some pics soon. i can't seem to find the usb cable for my digital camera. when i get a chance to put some miles on the car i'll post some observations.

It would be great to hear your impressions of the M5 vs RS4 once you've had it for a week or so. I've read a lot of mixed feedback on the subject but have never driven a new one. (I owned an e39 M5 back in '01.)
One thing I do like about the BMWs is they've done an excellent job with the technology package, iDrive aside which has an admittedly poor user interface. Excellent iPod integration w/ USB key and WMA support too, real-time traffic, free 4-year roadside assist, smart key, etc., etc. Yes, all fluff if you're a driver, but it adds up. Of course, w/ the M5, you also get big torque and real seating for 4 people. However, I still much preferred my RS-4 to our 335i, but the 335i is my wife's car and it was her preference and the right choice for her. The M5 might be the best of both worlds and I tried hard to talk my wife into getting the M5 but failed miserably She didn't like the price and wanted a coupe.

congrats! That is one beastly car! No matter how good the RS4 is, the M5 is a much more practical car, and more fun with the V10. Only if Audi released the RS6 Avant here...
I'm looking forward to the write up comparing the two cars.

different opinion
not knocking the M5 or raining on the parade, etc... but i am not sure that i agree about it being a more fun car. that's a personal thing, i think... i test drove both extensively before choosing the RS4... i think that these cars are fun in different ways... the M5 reminded me of AMG fun...i.e. straight line grunt, crazy fast. however, it felt big. even though it is close to the same weight as the RS4, the dimensions are bigger, it's a bigger car. these are both wonderful german machines, i am just saying that they are fun in different ways. the RS4 is more subtle styling, true manual stick, quattro, etc... just different, not better /worse, but both fun

Congrats! Definintely upgarded on power, size, lux, and tech. Love that S button with heads up display. I do think it's a very different kind of fun.
