left on the front pad. As expected and read from other fellow RS4 owners, they wanted ~1K for the job (pads/rotors). And of course, they don't turn the rotor.

I've driven 20K on the car and have not tracked it once yet. I plan to just buy a set of DS2500 and get this done myself. I see many folks here have different pad sets than the OEM. So I am wondering if the rotor needs to be turned before putting in the new pads.

My brakes work just fine now but have not have a chance to really inspect the rotor yet. Other than looking for major groove/cut, I could take a straight edge and glide it on the rotor to see any major warp, anything else I should do?

Thanks for sharing.

Default don't have to turn every time. audi wants you to buy rotors every time

because they want as much money as possible from you. do the pads yourself. takes 30 minutes at most.

Default pretty sure these rotors can't be turned...

priced pads today

F $550
R $204

20% ACA discount on each...
so the F ~$440!

pricy

going to measure the old pads this weekend

Default Very true, and something that's overlooked

a new or turned rotor will show grooves almost immediately anyway. I stopped routinely turning them years ago with pad replacement, unless they really needed it.

In fact, GM put out a bulletin a few years ago advising against turning the rotors with every pad change, recommended lightly sanding them instead. Too many improper refinishing techniques at repair shops, and also the problem with getting below minimum thickness.

you can do just the pads, but make sure to bed them properly immediately after install.

Default I had my pads changed after 25k and rotor didnt need to be replaced...

Still plenty of rotor left but would imagine they would need to be changed the next time.
