Update from my first track experience
This was the most fun I have had in a long time!! It was truly an unbelievable experience. I realized two things. First, the RS4 just thrives in this environment, and second, I am so glad I learned to drive manual.
I have never driven the car as hard as I did yesterday. The day includes some really cool drills and hours of track time. I was going over 120mph and 110 through some turns. Redlining a lot. The instructor drove it even harder and then said we just used about 50% of your car's performance. This was a group of mostly first timers but everybody was driving hard. There were various other cars including a an A4, BMW 335, M5, Z3, Acura TL (auto), Mazda 3 (auto) miatas and vets. After every session, I would hear about problems with the other cars (melting/smoking breaks, mechanical noises, tires chunking etc). Vets and miatas did OK. The TL was really suffering. 335's front break literally melted away. But I was really shocked how strong the RS4 was. It was as if it loved being at the track. At the end of the day, breaks look great, tires looked great, it used less gas than the A4! It made be realize how great this car is. The instructors really loved the car too.
I was also proud of my stick shift driving. This is my first manual car but I really did well on the shifter and clutch. It was really great downshifting--so much more fun. I constant heard the auto guys complain about the difficulties they had.

I would suggest putting in some SS brake lines, and upgrading your...
OEM brake fluid to something with higher temps for your next outing. Also, consider a set of Ferodo DS2500 brake pads.
