I posted a month back about needing a qt at 350 mls. Unfortunately I did not check level at delivery (40 mls) and had no good reference. At 1200 I'm still at close to max following top up. i.e. very little oil consumption. I have used the aggressive, but within guidelines break-in method. Hard not to ring it out to limits suggested!

Anyway, alarms have stopped ringing for me and thought I'd share.

will be changing out current oil to eliminate wear particles per various suggestions and then onto regular change intervals.

Seems like you're not likely to have an oil issue, and your reasoning about maybe not filled to top at delivery was correct.

By the way, tell your break-in method to Dr. GP. He is insisting that everybody here is breaking their RS4 by babying it. I guess anything short of getting airborne is babying the RS4, LOL.

without having to top-up at all. I've been using a "spirited" break-in regimen within Audi guidelines. Service advisor was not keen to drain what he called "unknown" factory "break-in" oil before the 5K mile Audi recommendation. I also know the factory fill was not to the top of the range on the dip stick. This car had been belching blue smoke on cold start-up during the first 300 miles. That seems to be tapering-off now. I was also advised the car takes on a whole new realm of performance somwehere around 8K miles. Yes/ No?

I'm at 1500 miles and i checked the oil recently. No loss of oil since I bought the car new and I drive mostly in the city. Will probably have the oil changed before 2000 miles.
