Default Update on the stereo swap, dealer put in a new one today and the FM & AM now work but .....

now my Treo 650 will not link. The new stereo seems to not be preloaded with the software for the phone functions. To the dealers credit they tried their best to update the software and promised to get it fixed when I come back from Deals Gap. One interesting side note is that the new stereo sounds far better than the old one. I was informed that the old one was Panasonic and the new one is Blaupunkt. You can't tell the difference from the face plate but they assured me that all the new cars are shipping with the Blaupunkt. To anyone with the old buttons, board and stereo all I can say is chin up old fellow.

Default They look exactly the same; he said it may have an internal brand stamp. The only reason.......

he even mentioned the change in make was because I asked him if it was my imagination or could the new one really sound that much better. I also asked one of the local car stereo dealers and he said that Panasonic is a good brand and that Sony now owns and makes Blaupunkt. The real difference is the internal parts and the same brand can vary from batch to batch depending on the quality of the internal components in each run.

Sony doesn't own Blaupunkt . . . Blaupunkt is a Bosch brand

It sounds better because you went from Japanese to German!
