The US RS4 almost has a start button
My procedure is:
1) Insert key
2) Start car
3) Push S button
Not much different than the Euro procedure. I would rather eliminate step 3, however. Why would I want to mute that beautiful sound?

You have it all wrong...
It goes like this:
1) Insert key
2) Turn ignition on, but do not start car
3) Push the S button
4) Start the car
That way you don't miss even a moment of the sound associated with the S button. :-)
