Valeting your car
What's the most classy/professional way to make sure a valet doesn't take your car out for a "joy ride"?
I was at a very nice wedding yesterday, when I pulled up you could see the valet boys salivating pushing each other away to get the keys to my car. Well I gave them my keys and reset the trip OD, when I picked up my car 5 hours later it came back warm at 140F which usually takes at least 10mins or a coupe of miles to get to. The trip OD only had 0.2miles but the problem is he was only 15 seconds walking distance to get the car so there's no way it warmed up that fast.
Next time I'll remember what my OD is to make sure the car wasn't joy ridden, but I can't shake the feeling that my "baby" was violated. What do you guys do or say to make sure a valet doesn't take advantage?

when I think about valet parking, I remind myself of this story....
....this happened near my home town a few years ago:
-----------------------------------------------
LAGUNA NIGUEL VALET CRASHES FERRARI IN JOY RIDE
12-17-00 10:43 EST
LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. (AP) -- A 20-year-old hotel parking
attendant took a Ferrari on a joy ride and crashed into a
tree, a sheriff's lieutenant said Saturday.
Justin Burghardt, a valet at the Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel,
and another hotel employee, allegedly took the $170,000
car for a spin early Friday and hit a tree on hotel grounds
shortly after taking the keys from the owner, Orange County
sheriff's Lt. Larry Abbott said. The owner's name was
withheld, Abbott said.
The 1998 Ferrari 355 F-1 was severely damaged and may
be unsalvageable. Neither Burghardt nor his co-worker,
whose name was withheld, were injured. It was unclear
whether they remained employed at the Ritz Carlton.
The Ferrari, which can accelerate to 60 mph in five seconds,
has a top speed of 183 mph. Enthusiasts say the car, with
its racing-style gear shift, can be difficult for an
inexperienced motorist to drive.

i've rarely valeted where they have much time to mess around. they're usually scrambling...
...to get the next car/customer. and when it's slower, they usually end up parking it right in my line-of-sight, up front.
i suppose it happens. i know i've had a valet curb a wheel, but didn't notice it til later. hazard of city living.

Nobody valets my 21yo Alfa, let alone the Ferrari or RS4. Either they let me park myself
(I pay them the same as if they had parked it), or I don't attend the event.
Simple as that.
