Very favourable article in the New York Times automobile section on the RS4 - except for the price

WTF! The S button doesn't do anything to the suspension! LOL
"An "S" button is for track day; it turns the marginally compliant suspension to concrete."
Do these people actually drive these cars?

Couldn't count their ***** twice and come up with the same number
You guys are right...typically, most automotive editorial contributors know little about cars and tend to post quotes and someone else's claims, but having not seen the piece, I can't speak to the editor's credentials, or lack thereof.
I've seen many threads as of late on this board about different print titles' endorsement or lack thereof...I'm curious as to why they're so debated?
We all love our cars, so is someone having buyer's remorse? Is someone's wife questioning the purchase? Are we trying to impress the B5 Audi trolls who frequent this board?
I say, "drive it, love it, and ignore what anyone else might think." If I really cared what other people thoought, I'd have bought an overpriced, unreliable BMW.
I'm at an age where I care more about what a car does for me than what it does for others....
Merry Christmas, my firends

Couldn't agree more with your sentiments, although I have read the
article and it presents a description of Quattro's history and contrasted it with BMW's M division and MB's AMG. Also contrasted RS versions from M and AMG. Having owned an 03 CL55 Kompressor, I was very disappointed when MB flooded the market with them starting in 2003, which is a mistake that I trust will not be made by Ausi with the RS4. Too bad the author did not get the technical stuff right, but that seems normal for auto writers. Seems like they read the press kits, but not the manuals and more technical descriptions.
BTW, despite the ridiculously slow iDrive processor, my 650 has been bulletproof for the first six months.

The Times is far from perfect -- it's very liberal bias.
But hey you have to throw your brain away to read the other 2 main papers in the City!<ul><li><a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2006/12/24/automobiles/autoreviews/24AUTO.html?_r=1&ref=automobiles&oref=slog in">http://www.nytimes.com/2006/12/24/automobiles/autoreviews/24AUTO.html?_r=1&ref=automobiles&oref=slog in</a</li></u
