A very good weekend with the RS4.

It's been a great 12 years in the Bay Area and now it's time for me to settle down. I'm getting married and moving back to LA in two weeks and already started moving.
This weekend I drove my RS4 down to LA packed with my stuff. I was very happy with how much stuff I was able to put into the car.

I filled up the gas in Daly City before the long drive.

This is a picture of the route I took.

The I-5 is like the Californian autobahn and it was the first time I drove such a long distance at one time in the Audi.

I got very decent gas mileage. I was not driving that conservatively but I think I could have gotten well over 300 miles on one tank.
After 272 miles of straight driving I stopped to fill up again. Gas prices are exorbitant.

Here come the mountains as I passed the Grapevine.

I was really surprised by how well the car handles the climb. The mountains felt flat because the car has so much power. That was very cool.
When I see Magic Mountain I know that I'm now in LA.

One of the first things I saw in LA was a rice rocket Civic si racing with another rice rocket Eclipse. The dorks were doing stupid lane changes and endangering everyone on the crowded freeway. Plus they were slow as hell so I didn't see what they were trying to prove. I also saw a hot chick driving an STI with a crazy wing and a Hello Kitty sticker (+5 hp) on her trunk. LA has such an attitude. I can't help but love it. Go Lakers.
Every car is the S version wether I see an s550 or a yaris type s.
The oil light came on and I'm glad that I carry extra oil in my trunk.
Here are the statistics from the trip.

When I looked at the car after I arrived I noticed that the rear shocks were compressed by the weight of all the shtuff I had in the car. With my back seats down and the car loaded, the exhaust note was awesome.

I really enjoyed the time with the Audi. It is everything I ever wished for in a four door car.
Bug splattered and driven hard today, I think the car was actually smiling.

The next day I gave her a bath and wow she is beautiful.

Re: A very good weekend with the RS4.
nice write up. just made a long trip in my rs4 too a week ago. from minneapolis to seattle. also had the wife following in the jeep srt8. both cars were loaded with crap as well. i averaged 22.4 mpg over the ~1700 miles. she averaged 16.4mpg. that surprised me as our 06 jeep srt8 did the same trip last year and did 14.6 mpg. so either one of them is wrong or they eeked out some extra efficiency in the 08s.
