Default Warning! Buy new... CPO inspection doesn't mean s**t!

I bought my CPO RS4 with 9k miles on it... now at 25k, I have to replace the brake pads, clutch, and 1-2-3 gears of the transmission. The tranny is covered under warranty, the rest I have to pay. I don't hot-rod the car, never had any problems with the A4, A6, or S4 I bought new... but a used RS4 is like a box of chocolates: you never know what you're gonna get!

Default Well... It's kinda late. Most of us already have this car. :)

And let me tell you. Yellow is right.

Those are wear items and it's been widely documented by Audi as no longer being covered

Default The brake pads last a very short time on the RS4 regardless of your type of driving...

I just had to replace mine at 16,000 miles. So, if yours hadn't been replaced in the past and made it to 25,000 that's not too bad at all.

I am at 16K and my pads have quite a bit left - 25K seems about right

Default Since they're pulling the tranny anyway ask for a labor break

on the clutch install. If you need a copy of the CPO warranty let me know. Brakes and clutch are wear and tear and will always be a customer pay kind of thing.

While CPO is better than nothing. I agree, CPO can be a false sense of security. The best is to have your own mechanic check out the car before you buy. I will definitely do that next time. I bought 07 RS4 CPO in Manhattan, two weeks later I have a TPM warning. I take it to a tire shop and find out there's a total of 8 various screws and nails in 3 of 4 tires. I'm sure I didn't put all 8 in. Good thing I got the tire warranty though, got three new tires for free.

You are not going to know the shape of the clutch until it's slipping.
