Default We can rebuild it... make it better

Hi, my 07 rs4 has had all recalls done, and new throttle body under warranty. Jan19 it got hit while parked, 11,000 later, new bumper, lights, grill etc. Driving from body shop cel and epc came on. geico approved new intake manifold. This brings me to the question.. The repair shop said that there was hardly and CB. And it did not have to be addressed. Is that possible at 57,000? Thanks for any info or thoughts.

No that's impossible and is either an outright lie, or a strategically formed guess. They just don't want to mess with it, it's one of the rottenest engine repairs you can do. I just pulled my intake again to reinstall the flaps with only 200 miles on the carbon clean, and it already has black condensation on the valves.

Why did it need a new intake manifold? That's not a wear item. Did somebody bust something?

It seems that the accident was responsible for #1 flap being bent and #8 being broken. Geico authorized the replacement after the bodywork was completed..

Makes sense. The flap vacuum-controlled actuation arms are plastic and sit at the front of the intake manifold's underside. If they break, the only fix is a new IM.
