Weird rattle from undercarriage during full throttle
Anyone have this problem?
On the highway, if I downshift into third gear and go full throttle, I hear an odd metallic rattle.
- Only occurs if the engine is fully warm
- Sounds like it's coming from outside of car, right side
- Occurs between 5000rpm and 7000rpm
First time I heard it, I thought "exhaust leak??!!11?!!!one!!"
Anyone? Anyone?

Some of the things you are describing sound like the DRC issue...
- Metallic Rattle
- Right side of the car
Can it possible be that when you are going full throttle your are going over a bumpy road?
Go open throttle on a smooth road to be sure it's not the DRC. Even though you have symptoms that would say it's not DRC, you never know.

mine makes the exact same noise, its a bit annoying
i will follow this thread closely... i had just assumed that it was coming from the carbon fiber coverings in the engine compartment

Yeah, I'm thinking (hoping) it's just the heat shield
And it could be correlated with a particular RPM range, given whatever resonant frequency the heat shield may have.
I should check but it's too damn cold in the garage, haha.
At the dealer, the shop foreman was kind enough to ride with me, but of course the problem wouldn't happen then.
It's becoming a lot more common now, though. It sounds kinda like...playing cards in the spokes of a bicycle wheel.

they usually aren't noisy when warm...
just the opposite. didn't you say it only happens when warmed up? "playing cards in sokes of wheel" sounds to me like it could be one of 2 things: 1) wheel bearing, 2) broken apart internals of catalyst.

Aftermarket exhaust? Bet I know what it is
If you have an aftermarket exhaust, check the cross brace near the transmission. Many aftermarket systems have clearance issues here, especially after the engine warms up.
