Default Weird thing happened tonight.....

I was driving around for about 20 minutes and then stopped at a friends house for about a 1/2 hour and when I got back in the car to leave, I approach a stop sign and as I come to a complete stop I start hearing a loud noise from I think the front of the car...and the noise sounded like when you start to drive off with the E-brake on but louder. It did it again at the following to stop lights I came to and then it just stopped after that.....any ideas what that could've been?? I'm stumped....

IIRC, der kimbo had a similar problem with his RS4....not sure if it was ever diagnosed.

Default Mine did that a bunch of times once the pads were worn down to around 50%

They did it once on the highway REALLY loud when lightly pushing on the brake pedal. I found they also did it at low speeds when coming to a stop. But it definitely happened more when I pushed on them gingerly rather than forcefully.

Have not done it since the new front pads were put in. I'm still on original rotors too.

Default Didn't happen to roll through some small gravel or a newly paved road?

I had a pebble wedged between the pads on my S4 once. You would swear I ran over a cat every time I applied the brakes.

I drove briefly were there some rocks/pebbles...I wonder how that can cause something like that.

Default I had that on my S4 as well, pebble wedgie

little tiny pebble between the back of the rotor and the metal shield. Was unbelievably loud, lucky for me the the pebble stayed wedged and the shop found it and was able to confirm.

Default I suspected a faulty caliper...

The pads and rotors were checked, removed and re installed but it never resolved the problem.

Wow...crazy something like that could cause such noise only when coming to a stop.
