Well I'm sure you thought my family vacation at Disney World would be just that a...

Family vacation but you are wrong. You see my wife decided to do some shopping for her, the house and the kids (my wallet still feels the affects) so I thought why should I be the only one not getting any goodies. You have already seen one of my purchases, the heat sensitive brake paint but that was just a start...

You see even in Mickey Mouse land there are phones to the outside world and by gosh I can even use an 800 line to my friends at STaSIS. So I ordered a new set of DS3000 race pads and then I started to think (that's dangerous) and decided that since I'm always changing pads when I track the car why not go the extra mile and change rotors too.

So here we go a complete set of front STaSIS/Alcon rotors with their aluminium hats and their appropriate hardware ready for an immediate swap. These will be used on the street while my used ones will be used on the track. This should increase the life span between overhauls.

Complete set of new front rotors.

Here we see the new rotor beside the used one. Notice the change in the design of the aluminium hat.

Congrats - I'll most likely move to the Alcons in March

Just out of curiosity, why do you make posts like this here? Shouldn't this be in the A4 forum?

I'm not trying to cause trouble, it's just an honest question.

I mean, it's not like you make just one or two posts. It's a recurring theme of non-RS4 related posts over here.

lol, didn't I say this would happen...

I think it's a reasonable post, since the same brakes can go on the RS4

I also think that normally what Jet posts is often applicable to the RS4.

My only problem with Alcons is cost. I think it's much more cost effective to put good pads on the RS4 Brembos and then change out the rotors whenever they die. For the cost of Stasis Alcons, you can change out the stock rotors 4 times.

An honest question deserves an honest answer...

Well it all started a few years back when I started to mod the A4. Some of the guys moved on to the B6 S4 and some of the B6 S4 guys moved on to the RS4. A lot of those guys wanted me to keep them posted on the progress of my car and because I was seeking the best components to upgrade the A4 and that some of those components were being made from the manufacturers for the S4 and then the RS4 I kept reporting in an honest way what my thoughts were on these upgrades. These could have been suspension upgrades, brake upgrades, centre diff upgrades (TorSen), rear diff upgrade (LSD) and motor upgrades.

As for this post it was just to point out that I went a step further in my brake upgrade by having not only many sets of pads but now I could switch rotors when needed for track use the same way someone would use an extra set of wheels and tires for track purposes. It's been from my experience when I track my car with race compound pads that their deposits onto the rotors can cause vibrations that might not easily be removed by certain street pads and that having a dedicated rotor for the track <b>may be an option for some</b>. I realise this is not for everyone but I decided it was info worth posting about.

I'm sorry if it annoys you or others but I did use the green <b>OT</b> marker for this post as I do when the post I make could be seen as not totally relevant to the RS4.

BTW your August Horch quote is absolutely true. Thus the name <b>"HORCHAUS"</b> for the Canadian distributor of MTM products.

Jet persists like no other and haters eventually quiet down. He did this on the B6S4 boards years

ago ;-)

Hell, on TP, I've even created his own forum blog so he can keep track of all these awesome posts!

what "green OT" marker? lol. That's the auto marker for the image link :p

Sia Bani 08-23-2007 03:43 PM

most of the parts fit, so why not.

Except I'm so dumb when it comes to computers that I don't know how to use it.
