Default Well its about time I live up to my username...considering making the leap and have a few Q's

First, what is the average wait time these days from ordering to delivery?

Second, I am about 90% sold on Ibis, but a little voice in the back of my head keeps yelling Suzuka grey. Opinions on this? It is my understanding that they are both considered a custom order thus the $2,500 mark up. Am I correct on this?

Thanks in advance guys

Default on a car at this price, paint shouldn't cost extra.....just my opinion.

I think Porsche has snowed a lot of people by charging what they do for paint....$3k for some colors? Not to mention what they charge for options. No surprise they make more profit per vehicle than any other manufacturer.

ANYWAY....

Personally, I'm not fond of Ibis or Suzuka...certainly not enough to spend $2500 on either of them. Suzuka would be more unique. There are several people here with Ibis....god knows why friggin' white isn't a standard color on this car.

Default There was a brand new Ibis White RS4 in Palo Alto recently...

I have a friend there that will treat you fairly and can easily arrange shipping. If interested, contact:

Christopher Bearman (AW id: CBS4)

Palo Alto, CA 94303

IMHO, Ibis is a better color choice than Suzuka.<ul><li><a href="http://www.penneck.com/rs4gallery/display.aspx?gal=Ibis_White&amp;img=ibis_12.jpg">I bis White</a></li></ul>

Default My guess is that except for the gray you mentioned there is a fairly wide choice of colors

of RS4's at dealers. A month ago there were 18 new RS4's available within 300 miles of Boston, for example, including Daytona Gray with silver. As for the cost of a custom order, I would expect it as everyone form MB to Porsche seems to add a charge for "custom" orders and if you really want Suzuka Gray, then order it and wait a few months. Yes the charge is BS, but there it is.

Default I was advised that the order cycle is ~56 days, but I have no idea if a

non-standard color would affect timing. I ordered late February, and the order is tracking for delivery about two months after the actual allocation and order were in place.

FWIW, all three dealers that I contacted offered significant amounts off MSRP, for an ordered/sold order car to spec. IMO, you should be able to negotiate if you chose your market and dealer prudently.

I would listen to sparkhill if you want Ibis White, which is spectacular, but, IMO, should not command a premium price.

Default Thanks for the contact, sparkhill.

I'm actually not looking to take delivery until Sept. or Oct...so I figure I should just order from my local dealer a few months in advance... probably July just to play it safe. Not that I'm paranoid about 1st year reliability on cars, but by then i should be able to get one of the first MY 08 cars as well, which hopefully will have a few new options to drool over (Ibis White as a standard color??? please????).

Anyway, thanks for all of your responses. I can't wait to make the leap!

Default No problem.

I've never seen Suzuka in person, but from the photos it is my least favorite color. Color is subjective though and many might not like my black car.

You might also consider Calla White, Light Silver Metallic, or one of the many other Audi exclusive colors available.

Default Why have so few people bought Ibis?

I like that it is rare, but eventually, I'd like to own an Ibis RS4 and with only 13 (according to the registry) in the country, that kinda hurts my chances.

Default I'm guessing because it is a special order....

It is really really stupid that it is not a standard color, though. White is standard on every car, why not the RS?
