Went in today to have my STaSIS SL's adjusted after 5K miles. They settled 3/4" all the way around.

Very interesting.

All bolts checked for tightness and car re-adjusted to 26". Only one bad thing.... he found a front upper control arm bushing that is starting to crack/tear :-(

Default Upper control arm bushing

They found the same thing, 1 week after I had my SL's installed. Installed @ 3k miles. Both the shop that did the install & the shop that found the problem are STaSIS-certified.

So, is it SL-related? Before that, I had the original non-sport A4 suspension. Maybe the first shop over-torqued the bushing, or something.

Can't comment on the drop (yet).

Default I really think it's just crappy Audi components.

well see how long this one stays togehter and then repalce with hopfully another brand than the one that came on the car.

Does anyone know who make the OEM control arms?

Meyle? Bilstein?<ul><li><a href="http://meyleusa.com/improved_audivw.htm">here's some replacement parts</a></li></ul>

Default While that can't be ruled out, it should be understood that...

lowered suspensions put addtl stress on control arms, tie-rods, stabilizer bars, and steering racks. This is known fact.

Possibly because it's permanently compressed to some degree on a lowered car...the bushing suffers if its design is not robust enough.

Default Same design on the 2000 S4 no problems for 100K lowered as well.

the item that died on the B5's control arms were the ball joints.

Default Bal joints, same issue applies

The suspension pieces are just under more stress. It can be the source of problems that otherwise might not happen. Just something to keep in mind when trying to figure why certain parts are going bad on a lwered car.

Default ...

joints and bushings also take a beating because the motions are more magnified in a lowered car. Instead of a fairly long motion, it's a quick short motion, somewhat of a pounding effect.

But my non-sport A4 had only been lowered 1", for 1 week, when the tech spotted my stressed bushings
