Default What oil temp is sufficient to let 'er rip?...

I'm still in the break-in period and am wondering how high I should let the oil temp. get before taking the engine up to 7000-8000 RPM. I have about a 20 minute commute to work and it takes about 15 minutes for the oil temp. to reach the low 200-degree range. Do I need to wait that long to stretch the engine or am I being too cautious? Thanks for any feedback.

You are fine once you get a numeric reading (the 7000 max RPM warning goes away)

Default OK - now I feel like an idiot. I wouldn't rev the engine right up to 7000...

at start-up, so I didn't trust that it was ready to go when that message disappeared. Thanks for the response.

Default I always go pretty easy on the revs until the 7000 RPM warning disappears...

then I let it rip. Just starting out, I do keep the revs low though.

Default I would say once its at 160 just go for it.

At that point the engine has been running and warming up for at least 5 min (maybe more) so I would say then its okay.

This is of course just my personal belief which is backed by absolutely no data.

Default that might cause to many "my car just blew up and I don't know why" post.

Seriously tho. I normally wait until 7000 max goes off and it reaches around 160-170F.

Default i guess my theory is that it takes me a min of 5 mins to reach any highway where I could push the
