What would you offer on this car?
2008 RS4 CPO'ed with 28000 miles
Phantom Black with titanium package
Exclusive interior(yellow). Not my first choice but I could live with it.
Loaded with Nav & Ipod Interface
New front pads and rotors and rear are within specs to be certified
Stealership has it listed for $58,000 which is laughable
Ran an Edmunds TMV and KBB and the difference was about $6000

I know that stealership well...they are smoking crack...when i was looking a few months ago, they had an 07 cpo'ed listed at 57k with 30k on the clock. Don't even bother with them and if you look at the carfax...do you really want to be the 3rd owner...bad for re-sale value and it went in service in 2007...also not good.

There was a thread on here about a 2008 at an Acura dealership (not CPO) for $48,900. I thought that was a great price. CPO usually inflates the price a few grand.
I was recently shopping for 2007, CPO, around 30k miles. There were four cars I was looking at. I didn't want to pay more than $47,500. I made several offers at different dealers. All shot down. I walked away for a couple weeks and came back with $47,900. Shot down again. When I called again a couple weeks later, the cars had been sold. I ended up paying $48,500. I didn't want to let another one slip away. And my experience at the other dealers told me that the market was supporting a higher rate than my offers. I'm sure if I shopped all over the country for another couple months, I could have saved a few thousand dollars. But time is money and I already wasted way too much time shopping.
I'm sure prices have dropped a tad since I was shopping, but I would expect to pay around $48k for a 2007 and low 50's for a 2008.
You can find much cheaper on other used car lots (non-CPO) and even cheaper still if you go private party.
What really matters is how much the car is worth to YOU. If it's worth X to you and you pay X for it, then you got a good deal.

Not feeling the interior on that one. This is one of the dealerships I mentioned above that had a 2007 (back when I was shopping a few months ago). They had it for $49,500 and wouldn't budge. I don't know if/what they ended up selling it for.

Horrible price. Last year I had a deposit down for a new left over 2008 RS4. The car was located in Long Island and the sticker was 74K or 76K. The car had 700 miles on it. The final negotiated price was 55,795 if I remember correctly. They also gave me blue book value for my BMW trade in which is unheard of. I test drove the car twice, really, really hard, and have to admitt that it is more fun to drive then the B8S4. However when I went back too look at it I noted the left rear tire ws almost flat. I then realized that I was probably not the only person to flog this car around. I passed on the deal. A car like an RS4sitting on a dealership lot with even minimal mileage has likely been abused. This is something to definitely keep in mind if your going to be the third owner. These cars are meant to be driven and I guarante that this car has seen its share of abuse.
Funny thing is I think the person who bought the car currently has it for sale on ebay for 52,500 with 18K+ on it.
I guess my point is that the RS4 is an awesome car but its just not worth these obscene asking prices, especially since the majority of them for sale have likely been abused. Furthermore, you can get a new fully loaded B8S4 with a four year warranty for less or a slightly used M3 e90 for the same price.
However if your heart is for the RS4 wait and shop around. Good deals are bound to come up. The economy still sucks and these are really niche cars.

You're saying you paid $55,795 for a new (left over) RS4? Wow, that's a crazy good deal.
OP, all you can do is make an offer for low 50's which would be a fair deal for a 2008 CPO. They will probably say no and you can try for the next one that comes along.
